Wow. Nearly a year since I’ve written anything travel-related. To be fair, there hasn’t been much travel since Costa Rica … Aside from a quick jaunt back to my hometown, and a weekend in Vegas – both of which I should probably share with you guys 🙂
It’s so easy to let it slip. To allow budget, schedule, and other logistical issues to hold you back. And if that wasn’t enough, the uncertainties around safety, threat of political unrest, and risk of foreign illness can be more than enough to keep a person huddled in their own home – sometimes rightfully so! However, it doesn’t take much effort to still allow yourself some travel time. Adjust your expectations to meet your budget. Rearrange your schedule to fit in some ‘you’ time. And while you should choose travel destinations wisely, avoiding any serious risk, we still need to let some adventure and excitement into our lives, and remind ourselves that while something may not be like it is at home, that can be a good thing.

Personally, our past couple of years have been hectic. We had a job change, a move to a different city, and the purchase of a new home. We dealt with a serious illness, spending days in hospitals and seeing specialists. We also lost our beloved dog, trudged through our devastation, and nearly a year later added a new pup to our family. We’ve had a fair amount of expenses and moving hassles, which led to us skipping our winter holidays for a while. However, we finally said enough is enough! Let’s get out of this frozen wasteland we call home and go soak up some salty sun. We’ll make it work with the budget, we’ll fit it in with the schedule, and we’ll accept and mitigate any risks. Let’s goooooo!!
Where to, you ask? Well, it’s been 5 years since we’ve set foot in the land where we first fell in love with travel, the land of smiles, beautiful Thailand. So it was an easy choice, and one I’m incredibly excited about.

Now that everything has settled, I hope to get back to writing about something I love and sharing my conversation with the world. Thank you for reading, please check back soon! 🙂
